Smoked Sweet Potato Pie: A Smoky Twist on a Classic

Elevate Your Thanksgiving Dessert

Sweet potato pie is a beloved Thanksgiving dessert, but have you ever considered smoking it? Smoking adds a unique smoky flavor that complements the sweetness of the filling perfectly. Plus, it’s surprisingly easy to do, even if you don’t have a fancy smoker.

Why Homemade is Best

While store-bought sweet potato pies are convenient, there’s nothing quite like the taste of a homemade pie. You have full control over the ingredients, ensuring that you’re using the freshest and highest-quality products. Plus, homemade pies are often more flavorful and satisfying than store-bought versions.

Let’s Get Cooking!

1¼ cup mashed sweet potatoes (smoked)

½ cup salted butter

½ cup brown sugar

1 cup condensed milk

2 large eggs

1 tsp vanilla extract

1 tbsp pumpkin pie spice

1 tbsp flour

Deep 9″ pie crust

Instructions

Smoke the sweet potatoes at 275° for 2 hours or until fork tender.

Raise smoker temp to 350 degrees.

Place sweet potato and butter in a mixing bowl and use an electric mixer to beat until smooth.

Add brown sugar, milk, eggs, vanilla extract, pumpkin pie spice and flour. Beat until smooth.

Pour into pie crust and bake in the smoker for 50-55 minutes.

Allow the pie to cool completely before placing it in the refrigerator to chill. Serve with a healthy dollop of whip cream, or some vanilla ice cream.
