Homemade Teriyaki Sauce

Ingredients 


1 cup water


¼ cup soy sauce


1 tablespoon packed brown sugar


1 tablespoon honey, or more to taste


½ teaspoon fresh grated ginger


½ tablespoon garlic paste


½ tablespoon roasted garlic powder 


2 tablespoons cornstarch


¼ cup cold water

Instructions: 

In a small saucepan, mix the water, soy sauce, honey, ginger, garlic, and brown sugar together. While the ingredients heat up, mix the cold water and cornstarch for a slurry. Over medium heat, bring to a low simmer. Once the liquid in the pan is simmering, turn the heat to low and whiskey into the cornstarch slurry. Continue simmering over low heat until the sauce thickens and coats the back of a spoon. This is a basic Teriyaki sauce recipe that you can use as a canvas and create a few different variations of Teriyaki glazes.
